Selected PHSs students across Northern Negros receives ICT literacy training for free
The fourth year BSIT students of NONESCOST trade their IT skills to selected PHS (Public High School) students across Northern Negros at no cost. They bargain their time, money, effort and IT skills for free (without fee) in exchange of community exposure, training experience, personal and professional development, extension services and research. This initiative is carried through as partial fulfillment of their subject in ECIT424 - IT for Rural Development.
The initiative started off as a simple lecture on ICT in the classroom. Highlighting some of the ICT projects and development and identifying each of these goals and objectives-- opens a great avenue in paving the way for BSIT 4th year students as ICT advocates in the rural community of Northern Negros.
The title of the program was named after identifying the training program objectives. Since the training primarily focuses on deploying basic ICT skills--then initially it was named as "Computer Training Program" which carries a tagline: Training for a Cause at No Cost.
